Our Father (Matthew 6:7-9)
When do you pray? And what does your prayer life look like?
Odds are, you do pray. The vast majority of people admit to doing so recently, even atheists (no joke!). The question really is not whether or not you do, but what does it look like? And is it satisfying? Effective? Powerful?
If we’re honest, most of us are drawn to prayer when we need something. A parking space. A way out of trouble. Help with that longing that’s causing heartache. Extra grace after another bad decision. Though we reach out, it’s not often (perhaps even rare) that our prayers are answered the way we want them to. It can all leave us feeling dissatisfied, empty, alone, discouraged and even angry.
But is this all that prayer is for? Getting help in trouble? Is there something we’re missing? Could God have more for us in prayer?
