No Playing Favorites (James 2:1-13)

No one likes feeling used. A co-worker who only went to you when they needed you. People you thought were friends, until they dropped you when you were no longer useful. Folks who turn to you only in hard times.…It’s a horrible feeling. But isn’t it easy for us to do the same thing? We’re conditioned to network, to gravitate towards those with means, fame, beauty, etc. Is this inevitable? Or is there a better way? As we continue our series, “This Is What We Do,” we are going to take a deeper look at how we see people and how we engage with them, according to the way of Jesus. In short, we are going to find favoritism is incompatible with the way of Jesus.
