Give us Today (Matthew 6:11)
Are you the kind of person that goes to the grocery store often to get what you need each day or do you go to the grocery store occasionally and stock up on the things that you will need for the coming weeks? I do a little bit of both. Obviously stuff that doesn't last long like fresh fruits and vegetables need to be bought often. But staples like cereal, cooking oil, paper goods, etc... I try and stock up on so I don't need to worry about having them for awhile. Our shopping behavior is based on how we can provide for our daily needs. Sometimes its day by day, other times its week by week or month by month. As we continue our new series Praying Like Jesus and diving into the Lord's Prayer, we get to the line "Give us today our daily bread." What exactly does Jesus mean when he tells us to pray to God for our daily needs? What's the point if we are almost always able to provide for ourselves what we need to survive?
