Runaway Believer (Jonah 1:1-4)
Phubbing. Heard of it? It’s defined as follows: “the practice of ignoring one's companion or companions in order to pay attention to one's phone or other mobile device.” Many identify it as the symptom behind ignored relationships, loneliness, anxiety, and even reckless driving and accidents. Why is this such a big issue? Because our whole culture has trained us to be too self-consumed to see the bigger picture of the beautiful opportunities beyond us. As we begin our new series, “Jonah: Living for More Than Me,” we’re going to look at God’s challenge and invitation to a prophet who could only see himself. In the weeks ahead discover the golden opportunities and the full life we are invited into as we learn to get our eyes off of ourselves.
