Access & Authority (Matthew 16:19)

You remember getting your first car? Might have been a total junker, but it was YOUR car. And the most empowering first moment? …when you were handed the keys. Taking hold of the keys meant it was now yours. Keys represent access, authority, and responsibility. We may not realize it, but followers of Jesus have been given an incredible privilege of stewarding a different kind of key. Jesus gave His disciples, and all who would follow in their footsteps, the keys to the kingdom of God, and along with them the access, authority and responsibility that go with it. As we embrace God’s future for The Well and beyond, it’s going to take a different level of ownership, faith, and sacrifice. But we do so with a great and special promise. We’ve been given the keys.
